Sixteenth, Seventeenth Sunday and the Transfiguration of the Lord 23 and 30 July and 6 August

Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Matthew 13:24-43)

How do I cope with the evil I see around me?

Do I have the patience to wait for God’s purposes to be fulfilled?

We pray for constancy in seeking what is good.

We pray for a true understanding of the forbearance of God.

Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Matthew 13:44-52)

Do I consider the gospel preached by Jesus to be a unique treasure?

Do I seek wisdom and understanding as God’s greatest gifts?

We pray for the wisdom truly to embrace and live the gospel of Jesus.

We pray for balance in dealing with what is new and what is old.

The Transfiguration of the Lord (Matthew 17:1-9)

Why do we celebrate the Transfiguration of the Lord?

What is the sense of the presence of Moses and Elijah?

We thank God for the faithful witness of Christ, who encourages us on our journey.

We pray for a deeper appreciation of the witness of the prophets and evangelists.
